I am currently working through the Navigator’s 5×5 Daily Bible Reading Plan alongside my church, First Baptist Church of Camden. However, when I have time, I also attempt to catch up on daily Bible reading according to the Mc’Cheyne Reading Plan. This morning, the reading was from Deuteronomy 28 and it was pretty devastating. Instead of offering my commentary on the passage, I will let D.A. Carson offer his concluding thoughts on this powerful passage. He writes

Before such a God, it is unimaginable folly to try to hide or outwit him. What we must do is repent and cast ourselves on his mercy, asking him for the grace to follow in honest obedience, quick to perceive the sheer horror of rebellion, with eyes open to take in both God’s providential goodness and his providential judgment. We must see God’s hand; we must weigh everything with an unswerving God-centeredness in our interpretive focus.

May we grow in our understanding of a proper response to the great God of Deuteronomy 28.
